Norton360 Still blocking Windows Subsystem for Android

Despite what the pervious posts in the community forum say, Norton360 is still blocking the Windows 11 subsystem for Android. I'm using Norton 360 version 22.23.8.4. I'm running Windows 11 Pro, version 22H2. I followed the suggestions from the previous posts but nothing works except disabling the "Smart Firewall". In one of the closed posts, the user asked, "When is a permanent fix going to be available?". I'm asking the same question, "When will a fix be available?"

Re: Norton360 Still blocking Windows Subsystem for Android

After rebooting my desktop, opening the firewall activity log, starting WSA and my Android App, Iwas able to see which FW rule was causing trhe problem. I modified the FW rule and now my App is working. I think we can mark this problem, "resolved". However, it would be much nicer if Norton spent some of those dollars  trying to persuade me to purchase products on an interface that is easier to navigate and find the things you want like the FW activity log.

Any thoughts on a more permanent fix?

Final report.....all still good. I feel the final solution was turning the 'Active' box off then on again.

fwiw ~

Here is what I tried that did not help:

1) Turn on Hyper-V (not needed). You only need Virtualization Platform turned on.

2) Turn off firewall. No evidence in firewall logs that anything was blocked.

This is what did work:

1) On a laptop that is wirelessly connected, no issue at all. Login worked like a charm with Norton 360 firewall tuned on.

2) On a desktop that is wired connected, change the WSA advanced option Local Network Access to ON.

For both cases I am running Windows 11 (laptop Windows 11 home), desktop Windows 11 Pro). I am running Norton 360 on both. [...]

I can't log in to the Amazon Appstore.

Re: Norton360 Still blocking Windows Subsystem for Android

Yes, I read through those posts. The only thing that consistently works is turning off the Norton FW. However, I prefer not to do that. Norton needs to provide a better way to allow the Windows Subsystem for Android to work. One note, I received a message from Microsoft that the subsystem had recently been updated. I wonder if Norton hasn't caught up with the Microsoft updates?

So that we can see what you see, please post a screenshot of, Norton history entry(s) where this is being blocked.

Do you have this version of WSA installed? (WSA) 2304.40000.6.0

Re: Norton360 Still blocking Windows Subsystem for Android

I wish Norton360 would log what it is blocking and then make that log easy to find. Since I couldn't find that info, I used simple logic; start WSA with the "Smart Firewall" enable - it fails., disable the "Smart Firewall" - WSA is working. The version of WSA I'm running is, 2308.40000.3.0

Re: Norton360 Still blocking Windows Subsystem for Android

FYI!! In Norton history, under Firewall Activities, look for an entry where WSA is listed as blocked. In the lower right corner click "Advanced Details". That will give us a detailed view of what is happening. Below is an example screenshot.

Re: Norton360 Still blocking Windows Subsystem for Android

Thanks for the tip on where to find the history log. Not sure I understand your need to use exclamation marks next to "FYI". If you're trying to help, you don't need to shout your response. So, after searching the history log for FW activities, I do not see a specific occurrence of "WSA" being blocked. However, that doesn't change the fact that when "Smart Firewall" is enabled, it is blocking my Android App from working. As soon as I disable "Smart Firewall", the Andropid App is working.
