Retrieving email messages in Windows Live Mail

I accidentally deleted all emails received in Windows Live Mail prior to March 2012. I would like to get them back.  I subscribe to Norton Backup, but have never used it. Please help me.

Re: Retrieving email messages in Windows Live Mail

Hello Carter9536,

With the native Norton 360 client, no. However Norton 360 does have a web restore option that may allow access to the older backup sets so you can then restore those specific items. It's intended to restore single files instead of the entire data set. In your instance, since its only Windows Live Mail you're seeking, this should end up working out just fine.

Head to the Norton 360 web login here.

Login using the same credentials you use for your Norton account.

Once you're logged in you should see a screen with the one Norton 360 data set you have. To the right of the name you'll see a menu pull down called File Actions. Click on that and select Download a File.

On the next screen you'll see a section called Show Options. Click on that and it will expand out. This is where you will then be able to change the date to access.

Once you have  your preferred date selected you can use the Folders view to look for your Windows Live files. You'll have to download each one individually but at least you can restore the individual files.

Keep in mind the download can take some time since it has to rebuild those files before they can be properly downloaded. Let it run till you get the file save as prompt. Avoid the urge to cancel it if it looks likes its just sitting there. It really is doing something.
