restoring files

The hard-drive on my Macbook Pro crashed. Apple was not able to save any files. Hard-drive was replaced and I'm trying with no success to restore my files to the new hard drive. When I try to do so it says since the old hard-drive is not "online", restore can not happen. What can I do?

Re: restoring files

Hello

You'll need to first go to Add Computer, in the upper left from the main screen, and setup your new computer. Once that step is performed you will then have a valid online Computer. From there you can go to File Actions next to the offline computer and select Restore Files.

Once you're on the next screen go to Options on the top of the Restore screen. This is where you will see an option where to direct the restore. Select the Online computer, select your files and start the restore.

Once you start the process let it run and do not stop it. All the processing work is performed on the server side so you won't see a status change go beyond restore processing until content is ready for download.

Make absolutely certain you do not remove the old/offline Computer until you are certain all of your data has been restored. Once you remove it you will lose access to the data stored online for that old Computer.

Additionally you can access the Norton Online Backup Help file from here or from the bottom of any page including the login page.

This link will also give you step by step info on how to restore.
