Network Connection Issue

Network Connection Issue –

I have a slow network connection and have been troubleshooting to find the cause.  As it turns out, if I go to the Services menu using msconfig and disable Norton Online Backup from that list, my connection time returns to normal.

1. What function does that Services listing do?

2. Can I delete it without other functions not working?  If not, is there a “work around” where I can delete it yet retain the function it performs.

Hello Jerry,

The function of the Norton Online Backup and the service listing is to have the computer turned on the services while the computer is on so it can do the automatic scans, automatic backups,  or scheduled backups.

If you delete it from the service menu the online backup services will not run at all. This in turn will make Norton Online Backup not work as designed. Also this will not keep your system backed up.

Hello Mike -

I just got off the phone with Daniel and told him it looked as if my license issue was resolved.  We did discuss my slow Internet connection and he did confirm my Norton Backup could be the problem.  He turns his Norton Backup off and when he does, he sees faster connect times.
