A Vista box with 360 installed is sending out a udp broadcast on a local net to port 31077 every 5 minutes, like clock work. Another W7 box on the same subnet, with 360 installed does not exhibit this behavior. Both use the latest version of 360 and their are no security issues left unresolved on either computer.
When I searched for on 31077 in this forum, it appears that it is used by Norton Live Update. Can someone explain why or if, 360 would be sending UDP broadcasts to the local subnet on this port, 31077.
Hi Airfoil & Happy New Year
Port 31077 is the network communications port for Symantec. So it does make sense that your computer would be checking like every 5 minutes. Since you do have a network for your computers, probably only one of the computers would have to make the requests for checks to see if there are any updates that need to be downloaded automatically.
