I've been using Ghost 14 with Windows 7 for awhile now, even though technically it isn't supported, it seems to work.
Recently I bought and external 1TB drive to replace my 600gb Seagate. The new drive is an Iomega eGo, and USB 3.0 is supported. My Ghost 14 doesn't recognize the drive.
So, since Acronis has a free trial, I decided to download that and try it to see if it sees the drive, and it does. Set up some scheduled backups and it's working ok.
So my questions. Is this an overall Symantec problem? Is this a Ghost 14 problem only? Will Ghost 15 see the drive? Is there a trial version of Ghost 15 I can use to test whether it will see the drive before buying?
Acronis seems fine and all, but it seems geared a bit more for the every day user where as Ghost seems to respect wanting to see under the hood a bit more. Acronis offers a few things Ghost doesn't.
Ultimately, I think I'd like to stick with Ghost, but not if I have to pay 50 bucks to find out Ghost 15 will 'also' not see this drive.
Acronis sees the drive, and the drive works at the OS level just fine (Windows 7 x64 Ultimate). Ghost 14 doesn't see it, but I'm willing to accept at this point it's a problem with 14 and Windows 7, unless someone can confirm or deny I will also have a problem with Ghost 15.
Thanks :)
