20.3 UI issues - black line and a severely messed up Norton Tasks table

I think windows captures are sufficcient to describe the issues:

I think we've seen this black line once before.

The table is ok, but the column headings are all over the place.

Give more food to the QA guy (or girl).

Happy March!

For me the task manager is OK.  But the blackline is present in the main window.

The issue regarding the black line on the Basic User Interface was raised during the beta testing:

The Column Headings in the Norton Tasks window issue stems from the use of the 'Medium - 125%'  text size as your preference under Windows 7. This was another issue raised during the beta testing:

That said, the icons in the 'Edit Scan' and 'Delete' columns in the Custom Scans window are left-aligned instead of being centred:

Yeah, I figured out myself it was a high DPI issue.

It is starting to look comical to me how every even or odd build has some issue with high DPI. It seems that this conundrum is so inscrutable to Symantec developers that they have been playing whac-a-mole with it for, what, 2 years running now? Maybe more, I hadn't had a high res screen before.

I will of course not use a 100% setting to squint at the screen and ruin my eyes just to make NIS look right. I hope they'll finally nail it one day. Maybe 2015?

High DPI related UI issues are spread all over Security History too, where lines do not break properly (i.e they do not break at all), especially in the Communitiy Watch section where long lines are common.

Hi TomiRed,

The first issue - Black Line in Main UI is not a defect. It is as per design.

The second and fourth issues - Tasks UI's headings misplaced and Security History UI lines do not break properly - This issue might be caused due to DPI and minimum resolution mismatches.

Can you please check, if you have the below DPI and minimum resolution matching done in your system.

DPI      Width    Height

100%     1366     768

125%     1708     960

150%     2049     1152

200%     2732     1536

Third Issue - Left Alignment of the icons in the 'Edit Scan' and 'Delete' columns in the Custom Scans window is a defect. I logged a defect and we are tracking this.

Thanks!

My setting is, and has always been, the default, the automatic DPI setting Windows 7 automatically defaults to during setup when installed on a laptop like mine with 1920x1080 screen - 125%, 9 point Segoe UI at 120 pixels per inch.

So, to reiterate, I have a FullHD (1920x1080) display at 125%, I'm within the tolerances you listed and using default Windows display settings, therefore I strongly urge you to accept that it is a defect and treat it as such.

Look how huge the explorer text hint must be, poor soul!

I'm having this issue on the default (100% dpi) on my laptop and desktop.  If I "maximize" the screen, it displays fully.

This still looks like it did then - you haven't fixed it in 20.3.1.22. Just a reminder.

Like you, TomiRed, I do not want to ruin my eyes.

Windows suggests to use the resolution 1920x1080, but then my eyes are not cooperative. I have to increase the text size to 125% or even 150%. I have experienced that several applications have problems with a text size greater than 100%.

With MY screen, and MY eyes, the solution is definitively 1280x768 – 100%. With these settings the contrast is excellent and the Norton Task table (and other progs) behaves well. (With mostly left-aligned headings, I think all of them should be left-aligned!)
