Before I get into my issue I'll give my computer's specs
Windows XP
SP2
RAM .98GB
Recently my NIS 09 has been giving out some problems regarding it. First and foremost, when I try to run a live update the two updates download fine. But one of them installs and the other doesn't.
The first one that has installed "successfully" says:
Norton 2009 Streaming Virus Defenitions
Latest Pulse Update from Symantec Security
Status: Success
Update Criticality: Recommended
The second one that fails to install is :
NIS Engine
Norton 2009 Product Update
Status: Failed to complete
Update criticality: Recommended
When I try to run the liveupdate again I get the same thing, even after I restart my computer.
That is my first issue.
The second issue is NIS says there's something at risk. There is the red x in the Norton sign in the toolbar. When I open it up, it says "at risk" Underneath it it says "Fix Now" When I click fix now there are 3 "issues" NIS is trying to fix.
They are:
Advanced Protection (a red x beside it)
Email in (Orange exclamation mark beside it)
Email out (Orange exlamation mark beside it)
The advanced protection turns off by itself, so when I try to turn it on, NIS still says there's something wrong with advanced protection.
My third issue is that the latest patch update is supposed to be 16.5.0.134 or 16.5.0.135. My patch is 16.2.0.7
Right now, I honestly can't trust NIS. I may have a virus in my PC but I wouldn't know since NIS isn't updating + giving false alarms. If anyone may know whats causing it or knows how to fix it please let me know ASAP.
