I dont get this I have 1 use left for another computer and after this have to go buy another one If the customer paid for this this should be used for ever. does anyone agreee? thanks
Sorry, but i disagree.
What you pay for :
- The use of the software for one year, you can always install the latest version/release.
- Hourly/Daily updates of definitions for viruses, malware and so on.
- Regular updates of the software itself to adjust to the growing variations of threats.
- 24 hour a day, worldwide investigating viruses and so on by Symantec, which results in the updates above
Sure a lot for little money; if you pay say € 35 dollar for Norton, it's only about 10 cents a day for protection of 3 computers.
There is a lot more work involved in security software, than in regular software like Microsoft Office.
This is the license model Symantec (and all other security companies) use for their security software (unless free and with much less function) and which you implicitely accepted by installing it. The license info is in the box.
Consider this : You can install f.i. Microsoft Office on a maximum of three computers for a price, which is much higher than Norton, only sometimes needs updates from Microsoft and which is obsolete in say about maximum of 4 years.
These are my 2 cents and i consider Norton fairly priced for what they do for the money.

Hi rodney2009,
What you are paying for is a license to use the software for one year on up to three PCs. The software itself is not available for sale, and remains the property of Symantec.
thanks I used it on one laptop then sold it to friend and then got another one and in stalled it to my HP now only one use left on another PC or laptop after that no good. I paid almost 65.00 @ staples bit if I need to reinstall that should not be considered last use.

Hi,
Each different computer is counted as a use. Reinstalling on a computer that has/had a copy of the software from this subscription does not count as an additional install. If you have a problem you can contact customer support here:
http://us.norton.com/support/contact/contact.jsp?pvid=cs
and they will help you get things sorted out
First of all : it's is considered not very polite on a forum to write in big characters; this is called shouting. A lot of users do not like that and maybe are not willing to answer you, so plse use normal size characters.
If you sold the laptop to your friend and did not want him to use your Norton, you should have uninstalled before.
Now to the current situation : once installed on a system, you should be able to re-install without problems and not take an new activation. Be sure to keep your system name the same at reinstall of Windows.

If you contact Norton OnLine Customer Support via the CHAT route as below and tell them you no longer have the laptop that you sold they can cancel that activation and so liberate it for you to use again.
But it would be polite, if you want to keep the friend, to notify that the Norton will stop working and he needs to get his ownl

Hello hvysel
Some people do have vision problems and do need to type in a larger font. I thought shouting is when you use all caps. Customer service as mentioned previously, is the best way of getting this problem resolved. Thanks.

Hi,
Knew that customer support could help
If you have an operational copy of the software on your computer right now you need to do NOTHING. If not then yes, you will need to install a copy, activate it, run live update until the program tells you that all of the updates have been downloaded and installed. If you have saved your identity safe data now would also be the time to import it into the new safe. If not now is the time to start building it if you are going to use it.

As a point of information for users who require larger fonts to read the forum posts, text size can be increased by changing a setting in your Norton Community profile. Open My Settings via the link at the top right of any page, click the Preferences tab and select Display. Scroll down to Text Size and select Large or X-Large to display all text in a more easily viewed size. Click the Save button at the bottom of the page to keep the change you have made. You're welcome.
My appoligies I did not know there was rules on this thanks

There are no formal rules on formatting your posts. I was just offering some advice for those who do need a larger text size, since many users are not aware that they can customize the text size to suit their own needs. Using preferences will make the larger text size visible only to that user and not to others.
