3048,3 reucurring

I had the 3048,3 problem before, and I was recommended to uninstall and reinstall NIS which I did. That appeared to work for a while (couple of months), then the issue came up again, and I was told to click on "Support", "Get Support" which would go through the motions of checking and would usually do an installation repair and then report "Success".

Today the same thing happened again; a 3048,3 error came up, but this time the Autorepair tool kicked in and reported "Success" with installation repair. I wanted to double check, so immediately afterwards I clicked on "Support", "Get Supports" expecting to get a clean report. Instead, the installation repair thing ran again and one more time I got the "Success" message. I repeated that one more time and it happened again. :smileysad:

What is going on ?.

I don't know what 3048,3 means or signifies !

I don't know whether to trust the Norton autorepair tool.

I don't know whether to trust the "Support" "Get support" thing.

I don't really want to keep uninstalling and re-installing Norton.

I mean at this stage, for goodness sake haven't Norton realized that this is unacceptable and that it's not doing their reputation any good ?. This is something that should have been fixed a long time ago !

What should I do ?

Thanks in advance for the community members' support.

Thanks Peter,

Yes I had rebooted the computer between those cycles.

In the meantime I decided to do a product update and that seems to have fixed the issue; let's see for how long.

Thank you once more for your help.

REALLY ANNOYING :smileysad::smileysad:

It's back again !.

The new version appears to be worse:

1 - The "Installation Success" saga is happening again.

2 - Live update does not appear to be updating correctly, because everytime I run it, it always finds new updates, downloads them and then asks me to restart.

It's a real mess and I don't know what to do.

PLEASE HELP !

Hi kooduav, Perhaps over simplified - please verify your system time, date and time zone are correct!

Thanks Yank,

My time zone was incorrect. I have corrected it and the problem seems to have stopped.

I will give it until tomorrow and see. If that fixes it, then I will choose your post as the solution.

Many thanks.

You are welcome and great news kooduav, - hopefully more good news tomorrow that it stays fixed.

Yank, with all due respect, the problem has come back !. When I click on "Support" "Get Support", NIS does a repair on installtion and says "success".

Quite dismaying

The "Installation Success" is not really a problem to worry about. It was reported some time ago and was supposed to have been fixed by an update.

What version of NIS are you using? Click on Support - About from the main NIS page.

Thanks Peter,

It's 21.1.0.18

Hi kooduav:

This is likely a glitch in AutoFix.  Whenever I run AutoFix it always shows that 1 item was fixed.
