I recently installed Norton 360 v2.0 on a machine that I need to use the Windows XP remote desktop connection to access.
I am unable to access the machine via remote desktop unless I disable the intrusion protection.
I have other machines with 360 v1 that are accessible via remote desktop with no problems.
What do I need to change in the intrusion protection to allow remote desktop to work?
Hi n3up,
Did this resolve your problem? Or is it still occurring?
Sorry for the delayed response.
I was able to get it to work by setting the trust level to full trust for the computers involved in the network settings.
Probably not the best solutuion, but it accomplished what I needed to do.
The computer that I need to access is remotely located on a radio based messaging system without a keyboard or monitor, so I need to use remote desktop to monitor and access it when necessary.
If you have any better ideas, I'd be willling to give them a try.
The machine involved is running XP Pro SP3 with current updates.
Hi,
I have the same problem but with Norton 360 1.0. I have the latest update to it as of a few minutes ago, and before I installed it, my Remote Desktop was working fine, now it isn't. Is this also a Port 3389 issue? From this thread it seems like it's only a 2.0 issue. If so, how can I get it to work?
Thanks
WJB
Donno man... Mine works. Remember you have to forward port 3389 in your router to your PC's IP (behind NAT) and tell Norton Firewall to pass port 3389 (assuming you have not changed your default port)
Hi all,
I am facing the same problem. The only way I can gain access to the other computer is by disabling the 360v2 firewall, which of course I do not like at all.
On the other hand I belong to the noble group of newbies so I would greatly appreciate if you could make the instructions a bit more explicative! :)
Tnx!!
Open port 3389 in the firewall assuming that you have not changed it from the default.
