There is in fact much discussion about this but it may be spread across several threads in this forum. Suffice perhaps to say that Quick scans are carried out automatically by Norton 360 and at various times, not only when you may have scheduled a scan. Also depending on your scheduled settings a scan may require idle time (20 min I recall). If you are active during any of these “auto” scans the scans may be interrupted which may account for what you are seeing. If you remain concerned I suggest you take a snapshot of the results and also post your settings. If you need help, just ask.
Hmm.
I have my virus scan set to automatic. It generally scans when I go on the computer the first time of the day. Before this issue, it would run a quick scan when I first logged on, take a few minutes and voile.
I don't ever run anything manual as to not disturb the background activity.
I don't have anything set to run manually and haven't designated a time for tasks at all. It is all set to auto.
I am not sure there is a difference between scans when you go on the computer and scans when you first log on. It depends whether you are leaving your machine on or switched off in any way. Norton will want to scan at certain times or events. If it can not (because machine is off) then it seek to do so when the machine is switched on. If at that time you start to use your computer then you are interrupting the scan although you may not realise it. If you have set everything to auto then by default Norton requires idle time to operate some (but not all) its scans.
As I understand it, when you run a manual quick scan, you are happy with the results. If the results you are not happy with are the auto quick scans then it is possible this is because they are being interrupted. Again suggest you look at the times of those scans you are unhappy with and see if you were active or inactive on your PC at the time.
OK, thanks.
