Thanks for the info, Peter

I also have been having crashes.  Yesterday, I went to do the update and Norton 360 Deluxe would not update.  Got on tech support, let them have control and had to go to a supervisor and it happened to them.

Had a message:  unable to install

"McAfee" can't be modified to deleted because it is required by macOS.

sure. Used terminal to find and delete all McAfee files. and still no go. Update will not install.

Very tempted to follow JoePro's advice above.  But, it's working great on my iPhones. Especially VPN on wi-fi connections, which is why I got it.  VPN on the mac has been spotty at best.

my case has been pushed up to Level 2 status by Norton. I've always preferred Symantec, but times they are a changing.

for VPN, I found ProtonVPN and am researching it.

I had a thread named "360 Deluxe v8.5 and Catalina v10.15" and somehow it was closed.(?)

Just an FYI. Threads are locked automatically by the forum software after 30 days with no posts. This is done to keep any threads current. Older posts for what appears to be the same issue, may have already been solved by Norton updates.

I decided to uninstall Norton 360, ran the cleaning tool as well but still got the crashing caused by 'com.symantec.mes'.  Turns out the system extension does not get uninstalled.

I booted into recovery mode, turned off SPI, rebooted and then used 'systemextensionsctl' from the terminal to list and uninstall the Norton extension.  Then I rebooted into recovery mode again, turned SPI back on and no more crashing.

The command looked like this on my system: systemextensionsctl uninstall 9PTGMPNXZ2 com.symantec.mes.systemextension;

I've since installed BitDefender and have not had any issues.  Too bad, because I've always like Norton products.

same here

I had a thread named "360 Deluxe v8.5 and Catalina v10.15" and somehow it was closed.(?) I was going to make a comment in it about the STILL ongoing problem.

Hey Symantec!!  I've been a fan of your products for years and years. Got a solution?

My Mac also crashes regularly since installing 360... and I'm still on High Sierra (10.13.6) with Norton 8.5.3 115.

Clean doesn't seem to be working properly

VPN doesn't sem to be connecting properly

...and this is an upgrade?

I have the same issue on two different iMacs.  Running 10.15.2 (was having the same issue on 10.15.1) and the latest Norton build (8.5.3 115).

I've had nothing but issues with Norton since updating to Catalina.  This is getting ridiculous.

I have been having the same problem with Norton Security here is a panic report and it has happened more then once and it is updated to the latest version:
