Hey everyone,
I am hoping that someone can help me figure this out. I have seen a few older postings on somewhat related topics, but nothing seems to help much.
I have used Norton 360 for years, and recently when my subscription was about to expire I had purchased a renewal and upgraded to 360 version 6.1.1.8 Prior to doing this I had removed the old version of 360 as recommended by Norton, and I had used that program provided on the Norton site to do so. I was able to do a clean install of the new version without any problems, and it seems to be working perfectly; however, I have noticed that when I click on the Internet Explorer taskbar icon to open the program it takes a little while for my home page (Aol.com) to actually load. I have also noticed that when I am browsing the internet that if I click a link or open a new tab I experience that same issue where it takes a while to actually connect to the internet. When the page finally does begin to load it appears to load slower than normal. So the main issues are a waiting period to open a site and a prolonged loading time to display the content. This was never an issue with the previous version of 360, and I have not made any changes to the computer other than the recent update to 360 version 6. I have also noticed that when I click on the identity safe button on my browser that there is quite a long delay sometimes in showing me the password popup, and when logged into identity safe it sometimes takes quite a while to show the dropdown menu of links and saved logins. One thing that is quite odd is that despite the waiting time involved with connecting to a site there doesn't appear to be any issue with the speed of my internet connection.
Just some info that may help:
Browser: Windows Internet Explorer 9
Operating system: Windows 7 64-bit
Computer: Hewlett Packard HPE-560z
Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1045T (2.7GHz)
Ram: 16GB
Norton Version: 6.1.1.8
Connection speed to router 168Mbps (Linksys N-Band adapter and router)
Slowest internet connection speed test results: 15.72Mbps Download and 3.78Mbps Upload
Add-ons to browser increase browser load time by .21 seconds according to Internet Explorer
I hope that someone has some ideas. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program as the Norton website recommends. This was not an issue until the update, and this computer had worked perfectly fine with the previous versions of Norton 360. The internet connection itself appears to be working at reliable speeds so I am left to believe that this may just be an issue with the new version.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Chris
