360 v6 - Installed and now cannot access the internet, even after uninstalling

I downloaded (or upgraded, as I had a very old version of Norton installed from 4 years ago) to 360 v6 on a Toshiba Satellite laptop with Win XP on Service Pack 2.

I installed the program, went through the whole set up process.  Then rang the disk clean up. PC Optimization et al, then a Full Scan to make sure everything was good to go before I logged onto the internet.

First - when I got the full version, it took a couple of tries to get Norton Free Preview to recognize the full version.  Then Norton Online would not show me my product key to Authenticate the program.

Now, I cannot get online.  I've checked my network passwords and I have been entering them correctly.  I went to a nearby coffee shop and couldn't get online there either.  Restarted, then uninstalled MacAfee, restarted again, and still cannot log on.  It just says "Aquiring Network Address...." and then disconnects.

I downloaded the 2nd of three downloads onto a friend's computer who is running Windows Vista and she isn't having any issues.  I was able to authenticate her version without issue.  She is getting all the benefits of this product and it is working as intended.

I called Tech Support last night who walked me through uninstalling Norton in Safe Mode.  Uninstalled, restarted two or three times, and now still cannot get online anywhere.

My internet access was fine before I downloaded the software.  My wi-fi card had no problems connecting.   Was there any possible file damage from the disk optimizations/registry fixes?

Hi TheGreatMerman,

Do you have Microsoft Security Essentials installed?  If so, you will have to remove it to restore network connectivity.
