360 won't run scans - cpu at 50% or more too much of the time - live update not working again

The process you mention msinfo32.exe is used to collect info from your pc, so if you had just tried to creat an error log then this is why it is running.

Obviously for some reason it is not letting go of the cpu after it has ran ?

You could try uninstalling Norton and see how your pc behaves then with regards to cpu usage.

**Maybe you could check your pc thoroughly for malware just incase something has got in/ been present when you installed.

Try a few free online scanners:

I went to run a scan. Doesn't matter if I attempt it from the main screen under PC Security or if I go to Tasks > Run Scans. If I select anything but Quick Scan, and hit OK, Windows Task Manager immediately shows "Not Responding".

Meanwhile, my cpu goes to at least 50% for a while. Of course I hover closer to 100% whenever I boot the computer and 360 kicks in. It usually stays up there long enough to make a pot of coffee. And all the scheduled tune up tasks are turned off.

And then my problem with live update reappeared after it seemed to begin working for a few days due to nothing I did. "Operation Failed" this time. Tired of running luall to no avail. Main window on 360 says "You are protected". I'm not real sure if I am. Not sure I get updates or not.

Attempting to select files to backup leaves a lot to be desired. Try clicking on "add a file". The window doesn't even have a scroll bar. And then if I do decide to select or deselect files for backup on the backup window, it takes forever with the cpu racing. Will be turning backup off also.

Been to technical support in the past. They are good at uninstalling and reinstalling. No results or solutions.

No other antivirus on the puter. Other programs I use seem to work.

As I type this, I can hear my puter fan rev up. Cpu at 75% due to ccSvcHst.exe. Now back to 0%. Now at 50% and not wanting to come down. Came down in about a minute.

Looked through the forum already for solutions. Any other ideas? Getting ready to do a final and permanent uninstall.

An update...

Decided to send an error log after live update failed. After a few minutes when it completed, got an error message window "An error occurred during the transfer operation. The process did not complete successfully. Please try again."

My cpu is now running between 65 and 90% due to msinfo32.exe. Closed all the norton windows. Didn't change the cpu. Maybe not due to Norton?
