360 won't start every time under Windows 8.1 - 8504, 104

Yes, I have an ASUS mainboard.  I have an ASUS P8Z68-V Pro.  It's an oldish board, but as the latest CPUs are no great shakes I didn't feel I needed to upgrade.  I'm using it in UEFI mode.

 

I have been downloading a fresh version of Norton 360 each time.

 

Just to be clear, is this likely to be a driver issue?  Is this connected to the ASUS mainboard?  Could you point me to other posts who have this trouble as I may get some more information from them.

I have some more details on the error.  I've since reinstalled Windows 8 (same problem) and upgraded to Windows 8.1 (same problem.)

 

The error I'm getting is as follows:

 

Norton 360

Error: 8504, 104
Windows 8.1 Pro

Whenever you remove N360 and reinstall it - are you saving your settings for N 360 or removing them?  I'm wondering if you have a setting somewhere that is causing this that could be corrupted and being "saved" from one install to the next?? 

 

If you do not have any customized firewall rules or other changes - perhpas you could reset every setting page to Use Defaults and see if that helps??

 

 

I have no idea which setting it may be - but I was toying with the thought of perhaps something in the Boot Tme Protection or Automatic Tasks Delay.  Is thre anything in Events Viewer in regards to a service not starting from a cold boot?
