A recent scan by Norton revealed 400.000 plus files.  an increase of 250.000 files.  I have approached numerous tech experts.  Some say it is a feature of norton and ignore it, others to go into search and possibly find the 'rogue' files.  While others have suggested my machine has been hi-jacked???  Computer-properties tells me that I have 95% free space?  I would ignore it but a few months ago the same thing happened, I discovered it by chance when trying to download some birdsong.  a warning box advised that I hadn't sufficient memory? to proceed with the download.  I had a friend re-install windows, reducing the volume to 150.000 files or thereabouts.  What is happening?  Really need to know.

I understand you want some help. Logically how can this be resolved based on the information you have provided. I do not know the operating system you are using or its release, I do not know the Norton 360 version either. Can I suggest you get to a command window and type

dir /s

at the end it should give you an idea of how many files are on your hard drive. If the number is larger than you expect you should then be able to use "dir" or "explorer" to find the files. When you have identified the extra unknown files, you should post again here.
