I’ve had NIS since September 2005 (came installed on the computer, along with Trend Micro Antispyware), with no problems, until 30 June 2008 (updates from Trend Micro Antispyware, as well as NIS on that date). I have always had Live Update set to work automatically. I’m running Win XP, SP3. Now, on most days, I get the pop-up screen, five times in a row, every five minutes: “Rules automatically created for the program: Symantec Live Update”. I’ve searched the bulletin boards but haven’t found this particular problem, and I would welcome any help.
If you are running Norton Internet Security 2006 on your Windows XP sp3 system with a valid subscription, it would be a good idea to take advantage of the FREE UPDATE to NIS 2008. Visit our Update Center and choose your current product to update. There may be compatibility issues with the older version of the product that has since been resolved in the updated version. Please let me know if updating to the latest version resolves the problem for you. Thanks!
