CWM030:

I signed into my  windows admin account, and remote management is grayed out?

Hi CWM030:

I installed Norton Security Premium yesterday after running the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool (NRnR.exe) in "Remove Only" mode and noticed the same issue where I was unable to turn on the Remote Management setting (Settings | Administrative Settings | Remote Management) because the switch was greyed out.  My Windows user account has Administrator rights so I knew this wasn't the cause.

I don't know if this will work for you, but after I logged into my Norton Account from the Norton Help menu (Help |  Account Information | My Norton) my setting for the Remote Management switch was activated and I was able to turn Remote Management on.  When I looked at the Devices tab in my Norton Account (My Norton | My Devices) my computer finally appeared as a connected device, and the name of my device at Help | General Information | About | Device Name now matches the device name in my Norton Account instead of simply saying "Not Available".

Hello CWM030

I'm glad it works for you, but could you please tell us what it was that worked for you? That will help other users.

Thanks.

That worked!!!!

Thank you so much!

Hello

On your main Norton product on the bottom More Norton>Manage My Protection. That may fix the Issue.

Thanks.

I had this same issue with Remote Management greyed out after a reinstall of my NSBU. I had tried logging into   https://manage.norton.com and the Devices page still did not show my new installation.

Following lmacri's suggestion, I signed into my account from the links in my NSBU, and the device now shows on the Management web site, and the Remote Management setting is now live and turned on.

Hello,

I've tried that too just hitting NEXT on the NRRT instead of doing the remove only option, then logging in and hitting ADD A USER, same thing happens... Remote is still grayed out.

Maybe try the full remove option in the NRRT, and then after the reboot go to your Norton Account, and download a fresh pre activated copy from there. That may help the Remote Management issue.

Hello,

I tried all of that last night and its still grayed out.

If you click the Sign In link at the top right corner of your Norton interface and log in to your Norton Account that way that might activate the Remote Management switch in your settings as well.

Hi, Chris. Have you done a full restart ?

In Win 10 it's needed for Norton and other programs to correctly update.

If that doesn't fix the Remote Management option being greyed out, it might be worth running the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool to give you a fresh installation.

www.norton.com/nrnr

If used, after the reinstall run Live Update until no more are found, and then RESTART.

Go through your settings after the reinstall to check all is how you want it.

Let us know how you go.

Unfortunately, this is a common problem with the Devices page. Be sure you have gone to Norton Settings - Administrative Settings, and be sure Remote Management is turned on.

Hello,

Yes I see the green tick in the system tray and when I open Norton.

About the Devices:

Under the services tab I see 2 of 5 seats taken.

But under My Devices I only see my mother's computer with a +  sign to add another device.

Regards and Thanks,

Hi, Chris. In your Norton Account, it's generally more accurate to check the Services tab.

That will show you all your active products.

Sometimes it takes a couple of logins for the Devices section to update.

If Norton is operating ok, and you have the green tick in your tray icon, you're good to go.

Run Live Update until no more are found and then RESTART, just to be sure.

If any ongoing issues, check the Symantec KB article.
