Hello, I ran update this morning and I get error 8920.223. It says the servers are down and try in 24 hours. Is this due to the severe earthquake in Japan? I downloaded the updates from v5i64.exe and still nothing. What is happening? Is there a fix or should wait as I'm getting pulse and live updates but only pulse is being updated. Thanks for any help..paul
Hi Paul
It is being addressed as we speak by Symantec who have posted an update on the issue in the NIS/NAV Forum - applies equally to 360.
Keep checking this NIS/NAV forum thread.
Hello
You are being protected as the pulse updates are coming thru and they are the ones with the antivirus updates.
Thanks for the quick answer. We had a tsunami over here . check out http://www.konaweb.com and you will see the damage in my small town. It was so nerve wracking hearing that siren last night! Thanks again for the update. I will keep an eye out for the fix on 360v5…paul
Run live-update manually till they all get in. They will come about 4.mb at a time. You have to keep running live-update MANUALLY.
Hello Paul
I'm glad that you are safe after the tsunami. You come first and your family and loved ones. Then comes the safety of your computer. Thanks.
Thanks, I live at 2000 ft above sea level so I;m safe. I had to reload all the deffs. The X64 anti virus updates didn’t load, so I did a manual check and I got 94.84mb of deffs. I hope this is all there is.
Guess that it is wise to do manual update checks and not depend solely on Auto updates. That 94+mb update was huge and took a while even on broadband . Hope this does it for todays issues with Norton.
Hello Paul
I personally don't like to depend on automatic things. But that's just me. I run manual live updates when ever I feel like it. I do depend on the idle full system scans though.
Yes that is what I do. Usually manual check for updates. I let Windows do it’s thing in the morning but that’s about all for the auto-scans.
I believe what happened with the 94mb of updates is Norton had to re- verify my updates. Been a long time since that has happened to me.Hopefully this is all.
About 4 to 5 days ago this error popped up , I ran the gauntlet of norton support tech etc took over the pc didnt fix it , pc rebooted and sorted itself out some 6hrs later, after i was told it was nortons servers , i explained i had same error on all my pcs 4 of them all windows 7 32 bit 3 of them one 64 bit laptop, also my mums pc a vista laptop had same problem , today the problem was back! despite assurances it was solved i ended back on the chat again , wasting yet more time going through the same ordeal of explanations , i did install a fix definitions intelligent thing found my norton but still the smart updates failed to install no matter how many times i ran live update i guesssed after twenty clicks and 20 failures it was a lost cause even threatened to leave norton so fed up was i by the incompetant tech who seemed to think i was possibly too stupid to work out what to download and where , despite this i did again as asked retrying a reinstall off nortons website of definitions , no it didnt work! so back to the chat oh look im number 252 ina long waiting list! my annoyance getting close to boiling point as im chasing my tail and going around in circles , ive paid a lot to install norton on 5 pcs i dont feel inclined to have to go through this to fix them all hence the anger! norton suggest either reinstalls rebuilds, windows update is at fault , its my pc, its their servers ive had numerous stories unless i get it sorted im rebuilding all 5 pcs from scratch and buying another product twice in a week is not on! and im pro norton always have been for years but its not what it used to be the support!
Have run a live update a dozen times but same error message persists:" Failed to complete" . Any other solutions anyone?
