A bit concerned about over Norton Christmas renewal offer

I want to provide feedback over your Christmas offer that “3 months of free subscription with 1 year renewal and 9 months of free subscription with 2 years renewal” for Norton 360 that I got it in  email on Dec 4. I have been extremely happy customers and I have been feeling safe that my computers have been in good hand. Once a while there is problem, as an engineer itself I completely understand. However, I have question on the ethical over this offer for following reason and I am extremely concerned about how you deal with my personal information:
1.      The offer link.
https://www.websitealive9.com/2080/operator/guest/gDefault_v2.asp?cframe=login&chattype=normal&groupid=2080&websiteid=0&departmentid=0&sessionid_=2208&iniframe=&ppc_id=&autostart=&loginname=&loginemail=&loginphone=&infocapture_ids=&infocapture_values=&dl=&loginquestion=.
It brought me to a chart session to a random unknown person for chart.
How can I trust this?

2.      Remote Session. It tries to sell me the subscription via remote desktop. Is it that necessary?
3.      Payment method. They are trying to have me to pay the 2 years subscriptions via Alert Pay or paypal. I don’t like that they have remote session on my desktop while I am trying to pay!
4.      The destination of the payment. I ended up paying 2 years subscriptions via paypal. However, I didn’t like the fact that the payment goes to nortononlinerenewal@yahoo.com instead of some email to Norton. And the merchant is following via paypal:

==============
Merchant
Norton Subscription Center
nortononlinerenewal@yahoo.com
+91 9986235210

===============
Why some foreign phone number?

Somehow I feel better by logging back into my account norton so I can see that I did get renewal.   Without an appropriate answer from your office, it would be greatly disappointed me.

Glad to see Symantec looking into this matter.  While it is 100 percent justified to ask that people pay for your services, this "offer" strickes me as walking over a line that a good firm like Symantec does not.

I just forwared you the email. Thanks for looking into this matter.

I was also concerned about the "Christmas offer" and also forwarded the mail I got to the same person on Norton. Still no response......Is the Christmas offer a scam or not?

It will take some time.  This is a user to user forum, with Symantec Mods and volounteers dropping when they can..  While a Symantec rep is looking into it for you, he or she has to now find the appropriate people at Symantec to find out the required information.

Hi Trustbverify,

Welcome to the community!

Sorry for the delayed response. Who did you send the email over for confirmation? Please let me know if your concerns were clarified. For immediate assistance, please contact our customer support from the link below.

I simply wanted to add that I had also received the mentioned E-mail and was hoping someone would have found something out as I do not know if this offer is still valid as it did not state when the offer would end and now on the renewal site there does not seem to be anything offered above the normal 2-year period. I know it has been mentioned here to contact Symantec but there have been a number of times where I ended up with a very lack luster answer or one that had nothing to do with what I was talking about or even in some instances where the person did not seem to understand at all what I was asking and was truly hoping to find out about this supposed and take advantage of it before it ends, if it is in fact legit.

I have only a few days left on my subscription so should anyone find anything out I would very much appreciate the information.

Thank you very much to everyone participating in this thread.

I think the main lesson here is if it seems to good to be true, comes in the email as an special offer with it pointing to strange links one should be vary wary as with all emails.

The best thing to do is order directly from a known/trusted website such as Symantec for it's products or through the User Interface of the security program being used.

And if in doubt, do what people here had done and make a point out of contacting whomever you need to get an answer.
