A couple of questions about licenses

I looked through some posts on this topic, but none were exactly what I wanted to know so hopefully this isn't redundant.

1.  If I reformat my harddrive and reinstall norton, will it know to pick up my subscription where it left off?  I hope I wouldn't have to pay the update fee again since I still have over 200 days left of my subscription.

2.  What would happen if you needed to replace a harddrive? Would you need to buy a new license for NIS or can you use your old one associated with that computer?

3.  I have NIS 2009 with 3 licenses.  Do I need to buy definition updates for each computer separately or is the same update key used for all computers that have NIS from that package?

Thanks!

1) Yes it will pick up where you left off.

2) You can still use the old license associated with that computer.

3) The same update key would be used on all computers that have NIS from the 3-machine package.

Your welcome.

Just for information, you can replace several hard drives without changing the identity of your computer.  When you change your motherboard, it becomes a different machine.  Then you may need to contact customer service, as I did to explain that it is the same computer.  Customer service is very good to deal with on these issues.

Thanks so much dbrisendine!  I thought I read a while back that replacing a harddrive makes it seem like Norton is being installed on a new system and would therefore require a new license (or a lengthy phone call with Symatec support); glad to know that’s not the case.

Thanks delphinium!  This is good to know.  :smileyhappy:

(Apologies I did not reply to your post in my last comment, it seems we were typing at the same time.)
