A duplicate name exists on the network.

I was running NIS 16.7.2.10 (and the latest NSW) on our two Thinpkad A31p PCs under XP Pro SP3, without the recent problems sufferred by many.  Just tonight NIS said it had to reboot to finish its LiveUpdate.  I simply clicked to reboot, and before user login a Windows System Error window came up on both machines with "A duplicate name exists on the network."??!?  I've never seen this before.

I logged in anyway on both machines (behind our router -- both machines have their own static IP addresses).  Everything looked OK.  I ran LiveUpdate again anyway -- none needed.  I ran NSW One-Button -- just an Acro ActiveX registry item was deleted.  I then shut down both machines completely.  On booting each machine I see the same  error?

Of course we have two paid subscriptions each for NIS and NSW.

Any clue what NIS is doing now?

Thanks.

Lester
