A false positive

Hi Cosmin3,

Yes indeed Safe Web DOES show this website as having computer threats. If you believe that the sub-domain that your program is hosted on is safe then you should work with the Norton Safe web team to deal with it and get it corrected.

In the meantime you should not post working URL's which are known to be reported to contain threats even if you believe the sub-domain you are on is clean.

Rather you can obfuscate the link so that it is not clickable by other users.

Below is a post with just such an example. It shows not only the link being obfuscated but also shows that Symantec resolved the issue so that sub-domains are not incorrectly tagged as containing threats because of problems with other sub-domains.

http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/saveweb-says-dnsdojo-com-is-unsave-when-it-is-safe/m-p/481776/message-uid/481776/highlight/true#U481776

If you own this "sub-domain" I think you should start a new thread on that and we can help you work with the safe web team to get it straightened out. Understand that even if your sub-domain is safe others won't know it and the rating may prevent some people from wanting to download your software.

I have asked the moderator to "disable" your links just to make then unclickable.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.

Allen

Hello Cosmos

I have already contacted the Safe Web Team to see if they can break apart the ilove ro site so that the clean parts can be rated as clean. Thanks.

Hi Flo,

I was already going to do that but it also needs to be in its own seperate thread.

Cosmin3, please do start a new thread on this. The Safe Web team is really good about resolving this exact type of issue. This also makes it easier for other users who use this same hosting service to find the solution because it will have its own thread and not be "mixed" up with an entirely different issue. :smileywink:

Best wishes.

Allen

Ok, thank you.

Hi Cosmin3,

You are most welcome. I'll be looking out for your new thread on the issue with the rating on the sub-domain you are hosting from.

Best wishes.

Allen

Note to the Safeweb team.

The secondary problem of the sub-domain issue is now in a thread of its own located at:

Thanks

Hi Cosmin3,

To get back on topic to the initial intent of the thread.:smileywink:

Please do let us know the resolution now that you have submitted your program with the suggestion by Symantec to post a link to download the program when you filled out the online dispute form.

Best wishes.

Allen

Yes, I submitted my program and I already said that I did in a previous reply:

@floplot I did that, thank you for the suggestion. I submitted the file.

 Best regards, Cosmin3

HI Cosmin3,

Yes I know that you already submitted the file. I was asking if you can come back to let us know the results after you hear back from Symantec, if you don't mind that is. :smileywink:

Best wishes.

Allen

Oh, ok.

I haven't received any results but when I will receive them I wil post a message here.

Best regards, Cosmin3

This post has been moved to a thread of its own for better exposure.

I have received an answer from Symantec.

Seems like the problem solved itself because this file is not seen as malware anymore.

I hope that it will not happen again in the future...

Thank you all for your help.

Best regards, Cosmin3

Hi Cosmin3,

Thanks very much for the update. That is very good to hear! :smileyhappy:

Best wishes.

Hello Cosmin3

Since you sent in the form with the link to your program on it, Norton was able to analyze it and fix it so it doesn't come up with that notice again. Since you mentioned you come up with a different version every couple of months, it is possible the same thing may occur, but now you know the  procedure to follow. I hope it doesn't occur again. Thanks for letting us know.
