"A problem has occurred which need your attention"

The above message appears in a Norton screen whenever I log onto my machine and asks me to re-connect a CD drive or device although I have not disconnected anything.  Any help much appreciated

Hello gorgie37, and welcome!

We need a bit more information in order to assist with your problem:

Can you tell us which Norton Product and version (year) you are using? How long has it been installed?

Also, we would like to know your operating system and service pack.

Have you received any alerts from your Norton product about a recent threat detection?

Thanks.

Hi, I have Norton Internet Security 2005 - installed for 4 years.  I am running Windows XP (SP 2?) on  a Dell Inspiron 6400   Not aware of any Norton alerts recently.

Thanks for help so far.

When did this message start appearing?

Could you check through your Norton history to see if there have been any indications that Norton has detected a threat?

Let us know.

This generally happens when u have a device attached and threat being processed, but due to long processing time, comp is forcefully restarted and device is removed.

But as u said u didn't attach any device.

A system restore before the date of that msg can do the trick, go to safe mode and do sys restore, if fails, try reinstalling the product.

PS. An advice, instead of renewing ur subscription next yr, buy norton 2010, as its much better with less bugs.

Hi Georgie

You should also consider upgrading your xp to sp3. The fixes in sp3 may fix your problem also.
