A problem with email messages which seem to come from my computer, but do not! (I think)

I have a problem:    I seem to be sending messages of advertisements from me to advertise "www.ccg4.cheaphealthstore-c.com" to people in my address book, but I am not knowingly sending the messages and want it to stop!

Any suggestions on what to do about this?

Any help would be appreciated.  I would love to some how 'sock it to" the website.  I don't think I have ever been there and for sure have never bought anything from it.  it is a truly dreadful way to advertise and there should be a law against it.

Hi SanDiego Lee,

It sounds like your Email account might have been hacked.

I'd suggest changing your email account password ASAP.

Mr Security.

P.S. Does it happen while you are logged into your email account?

In addition to changing your account password, follow the suggestions given in the link below to make sure the spammer does not regain access to your account:

http://ask-leo.com/is_changing_my_password_enough.html

You should also check your system for malware using a Norton scan and also the FREE version of Malwarebytes' which can be downloaded from here:

http://malwarebytes.org/

I don't know when this happends, but I will change my password !

Hello SanDiegoLee

It looks like your hotmail account has been compromised. I would first change your password for the account. I would also notify Hotmail.

You can check your system with a full scan with the free version of Malwarebytes.

Download the free version, install and update then run a FULL scan. After the scan completes you should post the logs back to this thread.

You can find Malwarebytes here

http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/

It is a safer location to get the program from than malwarebytes themselves because some malware creators have large lists of sites that they block. Please be careful to down load the correct program ----the FREE version of MALWAREBYTES

(Thanks to Delph for providing the alternative site)

Please come back and let us see what it finds. Thanks.

I think this same issue has been posted here

Hello mdturner

Thank you for pointing that out. I've asked a mod to combine the 2 threads since they do seem to be about the same thing.
