Issue abstract:Urgent. Norton’s background RAM usage has exceeded 6GB.
Detailed explanation:Both VPN and SafeCam are turned on. I haven’t changed any scheduled scan settings. The only recent change I made was switching to a Windows local account.
Product name:Norton 360
Version number:22.23.8.4
os:windows11 core i7 1255U ram16gb lavie
It would be perfect if you could include a screenshot.
Ideally, you should update your Norton 360 to a newer version.
@user10087 What is your reasoning for continuing to use an older version of Norton 360? Your OS is Windows 11, what version and build is it>IE: 24h2/25h2. Local accounts on Windows 11 are commonly used for “off line”, is that your scenario?

Sorry, I meant to attach it.I attempted an update via Live Update. It temporarily resolved the issue, but since this is a chronic problem, I’m not sure if it’s actually fixed. Thank you for your advice.

The account is probably unrelated. My Windows version is 25H2. I’ve been frustrated with Windows updates due to frequent errors, so I haven’t installed one particular update. Since it’s not a feature enhancement, I doubt it’s related.Thank you
I thought you were right, but it’s actually gotten worse and exceeded 7GB.I’d appreciate it if you could tell me.
Sorry, I made a mistake. The version was 25.12.10659.
Here is my suggestion to begin digging into what is causing Norton to run this much memory. Disable fast startup in Windows settings. And. If you are allowing the Norton VPN to load with Windows disable that and reboot, recheck for any changes.
If there isn’t a significant change, reboot Windows into safe mode: Use step # 4 selection per the linked article, recheck the issue. If the issue persists boot into safe mode a second time use step #8, restart, recheck.

Always staying updated with the latest version might fix what was needed.
Wow, my friend, something must be happening with your PC for it to be 7GB, because it’s working fine on my computer.
same problems, every time after restart pc… norton i using only 2 weeks. After Norton VPN service disable - same … Versions: 25.12.10659 (сборка 25.12.10659.961), 25.12.10212.0
Try doing the following to see if it resolves the issue:
- Quickly restart the interface only
Open Task Manager
End: NortonUI.exe
It will restart automatically
In many cases, RAM usage drops immediately.
Try going to the settings as shown in the image below >>>> troubleshooting >>>> fix Norton
thank you for fast respond, but it working only for few minutes. i tried “kill process” and troubleshooting, result zero for me. Just open any browser (edge/chrome) and open for example “youtube” and RAM usage after 3sec - 2GB+

Let’s try doing the following, follow these steps and see if it makes any difference?
Disable features you don’t use
Open Norton → Settings:
1- Disable if you don’t use:
Cloud backup
Automatic VPN
PC optimization
Promotional notifications
Thank you, I did as you asked:
Cloud backup - not configured (how i can disable?)
Automatic VPN - disabled, and VPN service - disabled.
PC optimization - its disk optimize? - disabled
Promotion notification - disabled
i using only parental control (for my kid, he has another pc) and password manager.
And just open any video from youtube - NortonUI.exe using ram 2GB+ (image 1)
but if i open Norton window, and just press “X” (close), automatically “working set” drop in normal usage, but commit size still 2.3GB (image 2)
after restart again, just open youtube/… and ram usage 2GB, again open norton window and just close - ok.
Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (with disabled virtual memory (swap/paging file))
I’m happy to help you a little, so we’ve verified that there’s something incompatible on your PC. Have you tried uninstalling Norton Antivirus and reinstalling it to see if that fixes it?
That could be a good option. I know it will be a lot of work for you, but it’s the only way to find out what’s going on, because no one from the Norton team has spoken to you about this issue. We, as users, are trying everything we can.
I don’t know how to disable cloud backup because I don’t have it, but I recently heard from a friend that no one is having problems with cloud backup and that it will be fixed at some point.
@user10087 @Vartotojas Have you both followed the suggestion in my last post? Just following up with the thread for your status.

I believe the friend who is having this problem has already tried that and it didn’t work; we are looking at another alternative.
@New_Style_xd Please allow the users themselves to give their answers. Thanks in advance.
