"Access Vault": first time access error message

Hi,

I just installed my Norton 360  for the first time and included the Norton toolbar.  I bought the product primarily to help me with the myriad usernames and passwords that become unweildy with dozens of accounts, logins and the rest.  I also became a victim of browser smam hijack/attacks (eg gos.drivedo, dozens of adware-popusp and floats, etc) that make the use of internet a nighmare.

I understood that Norton 360 is able to store and remember passwords and allocate them to relevant logins so one of the first tings I did was to try the Vault.  However, when I click on "Access Vault" on the Norton toolbar, it gives me a pop-up with "Sign-in or create account" with a window to input my email and "Next" button and no matter what i type in the "email address" window when I click on "Next" button, after a message "looking for account..." message-line, I get a red error message that "a network error is preventing creation of the Norton Account.  Please check your computer Internet connectivity and try again." - despite the fact that my internent connection is perfect.  Please asvise.

Also, I cannot figure out how to use Norton 360 to block browser attacks - mainly what i get is pop=ups of gos.drivedo and annoying floating adwares.  I expected Norton to do it automatically but no.  I noticed that in one or two times, there was a message from Norton that it blocked "Fak Flash update" but the annoying popup still opened (though without the content  - the pop-up page was blank - This page cant be shown or someting) but the attacks continued and there was no help with the floating adware.

Dick, thanks for your help.

Regarding the adware/malware, miraculously, really, I managed to resolve it myself!  I will share in a moment after I keep my fingers crossed, coz my browser is unaffected for a whole day!!! yeehaa!  How did I do it?

In short, after many things that I tried (incl trying to find and uninstall - Control Panel - Unisitall Programs or something - rogue programs that supposedly are there - there was something that looked like adware, i think it was showpassword too), I searched for "showpassword" on my C drive (showpassword came-up most of the time with this annoying cr@p...) - the search came-up with a "showpassword" named folder, nested in the anals of Windows.  Elated, I deleted the b@stard, but then, I cud not get into any websites - instead the browser said something about "proxy server" which I didnt understand.  Panic!    After the panic, I looked into "Internet Options" (IE11) and unclicked something related to "Proxy server" and poof!  All worked and touch-wood, no malware/ads anymore, though I stil have a few suspiciously looking add-ons in my IE11 which I cant disable!  For heaven's sake, how can it be that I cant disable add-ons on my machine?  How did MSFT miss this!?

I asked the support engineer, how come ShoPassword and other sh!t doesnt get caught by a sophisticated system like Norton's?  He answered that this is not a virus, rather, apparently it is installed with the (unwitting) consent of the user and therfeore Norton doesnt catch it.  Well, this isnt a good answer, sorry, at the least, Norton shud be aware of these issues and the system shud ask the user whether they want to get rid of it, instead of me, an inexperienced amatuer trying to unpick it as i descrbed above?

Regarding the Vault netowrk error.  I had a 5 hours web-chat with Norton suppport, they took control of my machine (they were very courteous and helpful, I must say) and made zillions of scans and checks, they really went for it and nothing... the same message again and again.  They raised it to "second level" who after couple of hours unclicked something abouth "Proxy Server" in a window of Norton (ie not the IE11 Internet Options) and it worked!!! Yeehaa.  It is tempting to say that this was because my tinkering with the Adware issues, but no - I only touched the configuration of IE AFTER I realised that there is a problem with the Vault.  I asked the support to make sure that Windows Phone 8 users (like me) have an app too, we are not that insignificant anymore and with the ease of translating apps these days, there is no justification not to have WP8 App on Norton!

So all in all, it is all working (amazing, I know) but now I need to learn how to use the Vault effecitively...
