To quote Matt_Phillips, a Symantec Employee from an earlier post:
Ad or pop-up blocking - there have been, over the years, a number of features that customers have consistently been most concerned about, and this particular feature was not on the short list. The propagation of toolbars (from Google and Yahoo!, for example) that incorporated pop-up and add-blocking capabilities and the shift to concerns with online browsing security allowed us to shift more to our core competencies, which is security.
I hope this clears up the reason for not including it in the latest version. Thanks!

As someone who found that the adblocking in NIS 2007 was first class I agree with you but I think that the statements quoted have been superceded and that Norton now accept that most modern browsers do not include adblocking although there are third party add-ins that do.
I have used IE7Pro and Opus9 but found both to be overkill and now use one called Selectview.
I think that Norton have -- possibly in the context of the N360 V3 call for suggestions -- said that the matter is open for consideration.
