It was not on symantec's list of "things to do" with regard to Norton Products and because it was something that customers did not want because of all the other Products available to do this job; customers were suggesting things to improve the Features on the Secuirty Products.
I agree that Ad-Blocking and Pop-up Blocking was an excellent Feature in Norton Products and I hope symantec brings it back. It is currently in Norton 360 and that was Released before N.I.S. is, i.e. Norton 360 is Released early in the Year and N.I.S. is Released near the end of the Year, so I cannot see why they [symantec] cannot add it to N.I.S. again.
Ad Blocking is a browsers job. Use Firefox with Ad Block Plus extension and your coverd. To block ads in IE use IE7Pro extension.Firefox will block all pop ups and ads.

To quote Matt_Phillips from earlier in this thread:
Ad or pop-up blocking - there have been, over the years, a number of features that customers have consistently been most concerned about, and this particular feature was not on the short list. The propagation of toolbars (from Google and Yahoo!, for example) that incorporated pop-up and add-blocking capabilities and the shift to concerns with online browsing security allowed us to shift more to our core competencies, which is security.
I am sorry, it is not from this thread. I have copied it from a different thread.
Thank you Vineeth. Let Symantec concentrate on doing what it does best. Keeping us virus free. Times are changing. With both Firefox and Opera ads and pop ups are a thing of the past.
I have to join the club that believes pop-up blocking is a job for the browser.
NIS 2009 is so nice and light now, why add anything to it?
Let Symantec keep directing their resources at intuitive detection and scan technologies.
