hi alekstester - i was able to navigate to www.aleks.com today with no interference from the Norton Antiphishing Toolbar. can you please try it out and let me know if you still have an issue? normally if a page is blocked within the text of the block page is an option to continue to the website anyway. if there isn't that option it's usually because there is known malware when navigating to that site.
for future reference you can also click on the down arrow on the Norton toolbar where it is red and reports at risk. choose "report site" and it will then submit the site to be considered as being non-malicious.
Thanks for the reply Jeff Kyle.
I could always navigate within the general website. That isn't the problem. The problem is logging into my account to use the online aleks software. This software is implemented through Java and requires the use of popups.
On the main page you will see numerous links for a "free trial". You can create a guest account and attempt to log in from there. For first time users, a plugin will be downloaded onto the computer. This is not a malicious file. It is just required to use the online software.
I've created a guest account to test the login:
{removed - see note below}
If all works well, you should see a welcome screen when you log into the account. In my case, it doesn't go any further than checking plugin. Please make sure that you have the "Add-on" pack installed. Norton 360 works fine with aleks without the "Add-on". When the "Add-on pack" is installed, I've confirmed the pop-up blocker flag is preventing me from going any further at the login screen.
Is there any way to keep the pop-up blocker flag on, but change something else within Norton so that it allows pop-ups just for www.aleks.com?
Thanks,
Jay
[edit: removed login information. Sorry you can't post publically a user id and password, even for what appears to be a randomly created test account. We have no way of valididating the validity of such creditials, or that sharing them is not a violation of that sites user terms.]
Hi Jay,
I would recommend that you follow JeffKyle's advice and click on the down arrow on the Norton toolbar where it is red and reports at risk. choose "report site" and it will then submit the site to be considered as being non-malicious. Thanks!
