Adding Exception - How?

Hi everyone,

I am new with this program. Previous week I decided to buy new computer and when I was asking the same merchant where I bought it, for antivirus program, they suggested me Norton so I bought it along the computer. The reason for saying this is because Im new with Norton and therefore need more detailed instructions what Im going to ask. So my version is Norton Internet Security 20.5.0.28 and OS I am using is Windows 8 64bit. I am having the following issue: there is a file I would really like to copy to my hard drive but Norton is reporting it as suspicious one and doesn't even allow it to be copied to hard drive. So I would like to add this EXACT file as exception so I could have it on hard drive anyway BUT Norton MUST remain working 100% perfectly. Obvious question is: how (step by step please) do I add an exception for exact file regardless of its extension (yes file and not folder)? I went to tab ''Settings'' and this Settings window occurred. Already in the tab ''Computer'' I saw four different options related to suspicious file exception so I could have it on hard drive anyway, those four options are:

- items to exclude from scans

- items to exclude from auto-protect, sonar, and download intelligence detection

- signatures to exclude from all detections

- clear file ids excluded during scans

Tried to learn those four options, i saw some of them (most likely first, second and third) have ''Add'' button but neither of this option really helps - I would need more detailed instructions. The problem is that the suspicious (it is reported as such by Norton, i don't believe it is suspicious anyway) file is located on my USB key INSIDE .rar file and as soon as i try to UNRAR the file, either to USB's drive or hard drive, Norton immediately blocks its ''arrival''. Please tell me step by step solution, I would really need some detailed explanation as I have never used Norton yet (bought pc previous week with that program) and very new to it. I repeat that I expect Norton to remain working and reporting everything else after I would add this exception (how?) just like it is doing now. Thank you, kind regards.
