Is it Norton or Windows who is telling you this?
Hello dank,
Try to reset your firewall's settings. Go to "Norton Internet Security Options", under "Personal Firewall" from the left pane, click on "Advanced Settings", and click the "Reset" button. After that, you can also click on "Default all" button. Click Ok to confirm and see if this helps.
hi dank - can you also confirm your product and version? It sounds like you may have Norton AntiVirus, in which case this warning is indicative that the Window's Security Center is reporting a problem with your firewall. Here's a link to more info on the Windows Security Center:

I may have found the problem. I'm using Norton Antivirus 2.0. When I was upgrading to 2.0, it prompted me to uninstall McAfee because it could apairantly cause problems to Norton. I thought I got it all, but there's still one portion of McAfee that comes up with an error message when I try to uninstall it.
...so what can I do if the uninstall button won't let me uninstall it?
Please download and run this tool

Norton Antivirus 2.0? Are you referring to version 2008 or Norton 360 2.0?
Using the McAfee Consumer Products Removal Tool is the best way to remove broken McAfee products. Please refer to http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=107083&lc=1033&partner=10005&type=TS for details.
It’s whatever the newest version of Norton is. I checked their site, and the newest one just says 2.0.
Guys, I wanna thank you. That big ol red X is gone! I’m secure again! Couldn’t have done it without y’all
