"Advanced SONAR protection" disabled, still SONAR detects and quarantines

SONAR is flagging and quarantining simple programs that my son writes and compiles with C++, even when the "Advanced" version of SONAR is disabled.  How can certain files or programs be marked as trusted?  I don't see any way to do that -- either at the time SONAR kicks in (when it informs us it has blocked rather than asking us to approve this action) or later.
