Lenovo Z580, Win7, IE11
I installed Advanced Systemcare because of recommendations, and it seemed to do a good job.
I then routinely did Windows Update, which failed 80070BC9, either because of AS or because of a wobbly i/net connection - I'll never know which. Windows Update then persistently wanted a reboot, which I couldn't get rid of, despite numerous approaches & numerous confusing errors about registry permissions etc
So, after 2 days, I did a system restore - failed. I did a system restore from the bootstrap - worked, but Norton then failed with 3039,65559. Norton Power Eraser detected nothing odd. Tried reinstalling NIS several times in different ways as advised - failed. On one occasion, got an obscure message about AS and Startup, followed instructions, still failed.
But, took the hint that AS might be a factor, so removed it & tried again - NIS installed very nicely.
I don't know what AS does during startup, but something in it wasted 3 full days of my life. Not pleased.
I STRONGLY recommend that Norton installation insists that AS is uninstalled first. I really can't say that loudly enough
PS, maybe Norton should do some of that functionality, but do it properly ? Just a thought
