2 wks ago I updated my defs for AdWare Free Anniversary Edition and since then I haven’t been able to update them I believe the reason may be due to NIS 2009 ever since I installed NIS 2009 I have had minor problems with NIS 2009 at the moment I want to talk about not being able to update my defs for AdWare Free Anniversary Edition
When this problem first started I went in under settings for NIS 2009 and went in under Program Control and changed anything that had to do with AdWare Free Anniversary Edition from Auto to Allow after doing this I tried updating my defs for AdWare Free Anniversary Edition and I still had problems updating my defs
I then went in under Norton Insight one of the first things I took note to was 80% of all my programs are Trusted while 20 % still need scanned 2 of those have to do with AdWare Free Anniversary Edition aawservice.exe and aawtray.exe when you right click on either one of these and click on view you have the option to Check Trust Now when I click on this option nothing happens I think Norton Insight is keeping me from updating my defs for AdWare Free Anniversary Edition because it isn’t working like it should one would think if you click on Check Trust Now something would happen and in my case nothing happens not even a message
I tried uninstalling AdWare Free Anniversary Edition and NIS 2009 using the Norton Removal Tool and reinstalling programs from scratch and I still have the same problem I cannot update my def for AdWare Free Anniversary Edition
Note: I used the Norton Removal Tool for the NIS 2009 the funny thing is when I reinstalled NIS 2009 it did not ask me for my Key Code and it remembered my Password from before this should not have happened If I understand correctly when you use the Norton Removal Tool it removes everything that has to do with any Norton Product right down to the Registry in my case I do not think the Removal Tool Worked because if it had worked I would have been asked for my Key Code and I would have had to restore my Password in any case I still have my problem and I cannot update my defs for AdWare Free Anniversary Edition
At this point I have tried everything I know of to get AdWare Free Anniversary Edition working again the only other thing I can think of to do is do a full Reload of Windows Vista which I do not want to do so if anyone out there has any ideas on how to fix this let me know
The second problem I have is IE 8 ever since I installed IE 8 it takes forever to open when I click on the IE icon I believe this to be due to NIS 2009 the reason I say this is because when I had IE 7 on my computer it worked just fine even with NIS 2009 but since I installed IE 8 it takes far too long to open and there is another reason I say this
Not more than a wk ago I had to do a full Reload of Windows on my father’s computer because he left his Antivirus run out and he ended up with a nasty virus on his computer so while I had his computer I ran my own test the first thing I did was I installed IE 8 on his computer along with NIS 2009 and I had the same issue with his computer as I did with mine IE 8 took forever to open with NIS 2009 installed Please keep in mind this is a fresh install of Windows the next thing I did was uninstall NIS 2009 and IE 8 opened right up w/o any problem the next thing I did was install a different name brand Antivirus and I had no problems there is definitely a problem with NIS 2009 and IE 8 not wanting to work with each other you need to find the problem and fast because believe me come next September when a new version of NIS is released people like myself are not going to want to put up with this problem again
