Got a notice that a bot called Adware_Generic was on my computer and needed to get rid of it. Ran Norton, Norton Power Eraser, and even the Microsoft removal tool. All of them came up saying there was no threat. But according to Comcast, I have this "thing" called Adware_Generic on there. Now how come all of these come up emty-handed when Comcast says it is there? And how in the world can I get rid of it??? Help is greatly appreciated!
Go here https://amibotted.comcast.net/notauthorized.html
It shows the date last seen, and stays on the Comcast system for 7 days, if there is no more activitylogged after 7 days it will go from the system.
The Email states "you may have a bot"
Quads.
Quads,
Thanks for your note. I also did that Comcast/Xfinity "AmIBotted" program earlier (forgot to mention it) and that's where I found the name "Adware_Generic." Of course, what I've been really concerned about is that somehow my computers (one PC laptop, one PC desktop, and one Mac laptop) will be infected no matter how much I try to protect them. It's really scary when you try to use all your ingenuity to safeguard computers and then get this kind of message. And I'm confused as to why none of the programs I've run have identified this adware nor removed it or even asked me to remove it. Seems like the ball is being dropped somewhere.
As Comcast states, The Email states "you may have a bot"
That is it

Quads,
Thanks for reminding me of the word "may" which somehow translates to my thick brain as "do" . As my husband often tells me, I see the glass half empty most of the time. I think somehow this is a ploy from my ISP to get me to sign into their particular setup of Norton. Well, I've read a lot of negatives about that and since I already had Norton for my new laptop (and now on my older desktop as well), hope they find out I'm using the same product...just my previously bought version. Thanks for your help and reassurance....I appreciate it.
