Hello community,
after every restart of the PC, the network changes from “public” to “private”
Is that a mistake or normal behavior?

After changing the network from “Private” to “Public” in the firewall, the error no longer occurs.
After restarting the PC…
It seems to be working now, this post can be closed from my side.

What kind of routine is going on that causes Norton to change the network on its own
As of today, Norton do no longer change the network from “Public” to “Private”. What did I do:
I deleted the driver for the network adapter (Intel) and installed a very old one that came with the motherboard. Then I started a driver search with CCLeaner (also Gen!) and installed the latest one.
I then configured the Smart Firewall as I wanted it (Public).
So far, no automatic switch back to “Private”
When the PC is restarted, this Network Inspector scan (presumably) runs through and discovers the public network, but it does not switch to “Private” automatically. This information appears in the N360 inbox. I set the message to “ignore”
Nevertheless, every time the PC is restarted, the Network Inspector scan (presumably) activates and generates a message that you can just click away. You do not get any information about the test result.

(how big is the time difference between me and you?)
IDK…earlier today…user commented Smart Scan runs every restart [here]
Hmm…interesting and informative. Thanks
I think you’re 6 hours ahead.
Hello bjm,
I saw the post from “IMEDIA”. I suspect that the Smart Scan is somehow related to the Network Inspector Scan. Nevertheless, there are differences.

v24.8 Network Scan part of Smart Scan ?
Danke für die Information

I have now switched my network to “Private” because the “vlc player app” no longer allowed me to watch TV in “Public” mode.
Since then, the network scan has no longer been placed in my N360 inbox.
Greetings to all

Maybe, just switch “vlc player app” to Private?..if you want?
Thank you for the tip
Opening the VLC player and opening images/videos with it was never a problem… but
streaming multicast addresses (Entertain IPTV, Deutsche Telekom AG) just didn’t work. You could probably change the firewall settings, but the easiest way is to accept the private network.
I can live with that
