After inserting USB drive CCSVCHOST goes to 100%

I have read through a bunch of posts for CCSVCHOST having an error on shutdown, which I used to get but since I have moved to NIS2010 (17.7.0.12) intermittantly when I plug in my thumb drive or USB DVD-RW drive I don't get the usual 'dong' that windows has seen it and then CCSVHOST starts taking from 60-100% processor time and nothing I do from that point in explorer as far as access any drives works and I have to HARD shut down the machine as a normal restart locks.

I have used the Norton removal tool and reinstalled and tried to have an one line chat with a first level suppor person who did nothing more than remote desktop in and turn off all my services.

I have verified it is NIS as after I removed it I ran without it for a ew days (I know that is a no no) and never had the problem. I reinstalled it  and in after less than a day when I inserted a USB drive it hosed.

Please give a guy a hand on this!
