Hello
Please don't forget we had Windows Updates recently which might have affected your computer also.
Have you restarted your computer since you got the Norton Update? Have you run Live Update manually? These questions only apply if you haven't tried lmacri's suggestion yet.
Thanks.
Hi rogerskeira141:
It's possible your installation was corrupted during the recent Norton product update - see the 25-Sep-2017 product update announcement Norton 22.11 Product Update Available Now. As a first troubleshooting step try refreshing your installation with the Norton Remove and Reinstall (NRnR) tool as instructed at www.norton.com/nrnr. Once your Norton Antivirus is reinstalled make sure that you run a few manual LiveUpdates until no further updates are available and then perform one final re-boot to finish the reinstall.
If the NRnR doesn't solve the problem, let us know your Norton product name and version (go to Help | General Information | About - you should have the current v22.11.0.41), your Windows OS, the name and version number of your browser(s), and whether you have any other security software that loads at Windows startup and runs in real-time protection mode (e.g., Malwarebytes Premium v3.x) that might be conflicting with Norton. It would also be helpful to know if you've had any other antivirus products like Kaspersky, McAfee, etc. installed on your computer, even if they were uninstalled before switching to Norton, since there may be orphaned registry entries and/or files left behind by the uninstall of these older AV products that are currently conflicting with Norton.
If you have a Win 8.1 or Win 10 operating system also ensure the Fast Startup feature is disabled as described in the support article Message: "You Are At Risk. Your computer and network protections are at risk". This Fast Startup feature can cause unexpected problems with loading of Norton services at boot-up and interfere with proper application of updates on Win 8.x and Win 10 computers.
