I have been participating heavily in the Norton Community for over a year now and one issue which comes up repeatedly has to do with folks who have low speed internet connections such as dial-up and/or people who have download quotas.
So my suggestion is two fold:
1. Currently you can turn off Pulse update and not receive the streaming definitions but still get Live Update. However the Live update is many times very large in size and causes problems for people with these types of connections. The only way you can stop this is to turn OFF live update but then if you do that you also cannot receive Pulse Updates.
Can't these two options be made independant? One should be able to turn off live update but still get Pulse updates or vice versa. If they don't want to get either then they can turn both OFF explicitly.
2. Have an option so that users can schedule full live update sessions to a time of their choosing, very similar to the way one can schedule custom scans instead of the Idle Full scan.
I think having an option to schedule live updates will really help people with these types of connections or others to use if they want to. In this way they will be sure to get live updates on a regular basis without having to remember to do it manually. This will then help to prevent someone being more vulnerable because they had to turn off live update but forget to do the update manually on a regular basis.
Thoughts?
Thanks and best wishes.
