Hi there, last night I downloaded a file(legally) from a file host that I've previously used without problem.. however I forgot to untick the download with the download manager option which prompted a .exe to appear in my downloads. Chrome didn't like it and gave me the option to keep or discard to which I promptly selected discard. Moments later norton file insight popped up in the bottom right hand corner, scanning a file for about 15-20 seconds before disappearing. Curiously I checked the task history to see that Norton had allowed the threat. I don't recognise the website that the threat apparently came from, and even then according to Norton that site is clean.
I've tried searching for the file in the appdata\local\google...\cache directory but it no longer exists. I've tried running malware bytes and it hasn't found anything either. What should i do next?
Is it possible that im infected? because i had "downloader" and i didnt know it for about 1 month and it might have downloaded something , but NIS 2009 found the downloader and another malware but im not sure that my computer is clean.
One of the reasons is because i have 2 GB ram and the max free ram is about 1.5 GB , is the 500MB taken because windows is running or is it a malware?
Also , there is a process that is named "SMSS" and "CSRSS" and as far as i can remember .
Is there a way so i can get 100% sure that my computer is clean?

Wouldn't it be better to wait for the results first then make a decision as to what to do next??
I figured if Norton is working correctly, there's little chance of a rootkit (seeing as they usually disable it and cause far more problems) and not finding anything, so chances are all thats left are trace elements - and personally I feel that MBAM is better :-)
Anyway, I also figured that the poster will only see my post when they return with the results in any case :-)
but from now on I'll be patient to keep everyone happy :-)
Keep well
Matt
EDIT: and botht the exe's mentioned by the poster are legitimate :-) (as long as they aren't actually in CAPS in the TM)
