Hello -
Running XP Home SP2 v5.1.2600 with NIS LiveUpdate run today, and can't remove Metajuan.
I've done all the usual things - turned off system restore, tried full scanning/removal in normal and safe mode with Norton (nothing shows in safe mode), renamed MalwareBytes & Superantispyware in order to get them to run, and while it seems I've knocked down all the additional garbage it brought into my system, I can't get rid of the final couple instances.
NIS continues to find Metajuan every time I reboot (still running w/o system restore enabled, btw), and MalwareBytes continues to report the following:
Registry Keys Infected:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\UAC (Rootkit.Trace) -> No action taken.
Files Infected:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\uacinit.dll (Trojan.Agent) -> No action taken.
Can't seem to find either with regedit and other tools.
I have ComboFix installed, if needed.
What am I missing?
