Android app malware

360 Premium. Samsung Galaxy A50 on android 9. Picked up on scheduled scan. App security just says Malware detected in call recorder app - uninstall. No more details were given. Interestingly when I look at the app in Google play Norton says it's safe but maybe it's related to the adverts displayed.

What version of 360 do you have installed?

What device and OS version are you using?

Where is this app being flagged? During a manual scan, or when you use the app? Are there any details for the detection?

I just installed the recorder app and got no warnings during the process. Now I am installing on a tablet, not a phone. So there may be a difference because of that.

Thanks for replying Peterweb. I've had this app for several years and had no problems previously. It's called "Automatic Call Recorder" from appliqato and the icon is a green phone inside a dark red circle. It was last updated in January but only flagged this morning on the daily scan. Interesting the Norton 360 app was updated yesterday. I will report it to Norton as you suggest.

Have you been using this Call Recorder app for some time, and Norton just started flagging it? What recorder app are you using?

If it has only been detected recently, you can report a false positive following the instructions in this Norton Support article.   https://support.norton.com/sp/en/ca/home/current/solutions/v126152382   When you are asked what software are you using, choose the Norton Mobile Security for Android. The KB has not yet been updated to show the new 360 Android.

When asked for an upload, go to the Google Play web site at    https://play.google.com/store  and search for the offending app. Copy the URL for the app and send that to Norton as a direct download URL.
