Android Norton 360 VPN: VPN will not connect

Android version 14, Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus

Unable to get a VPN connection on unsecured WiFi, or any wifi if "Any WiFi" option is selected in the configuration. This is happening in the US as well as other countries. See images. Not a single time, happens repeatedly. Have uninstall, re-install many times to no avail.

I tried this, using all three setting individually. The slider is remains an immovable red X.  I am now on my secure home wi-fi network, but when I was on an insecure network it behaved the same (although, being before your response, I did not try the alternative VPN settings).  Btw, thanks.

Yes.  Did not fix.

I believe I have found a solution. The issue seems to be that the app VPN Protocol configuration fails/causes this problem when the "Automatic (recommended)" option is selected. If you choose any of the other ones - WireGuard, Mimc, or OpenVPN - it connects and does what it is supposed to.

I'm surprised that Norton has not figured this out yet, or contributed to this thread.

This is just a workaround for now.

Have you restarted your device to clear out any cache information stored for the VPN feature?

VPN is off, but the slider will not move to on.  Using fastest location, but tried a few others.

Not sure if this might have anything to do with your issue, but check in Android Settings for any battery optimization settings for Norton 360. If you do find them, be sure to turn off any optimization for 360.

I've had/used Norton for years (Windows and Android). The issue started with a new Samsung S24+. I've installed, reinstalled the application on the mobile several times, changed configurations, etc. to no avail. No other VPNs active on mobile.

Even on secured Wi-Fi networks I can't forced the VPN to connect - "Any Wi-Fi" configuration option.  The Auto connect VPN on for unsecured networks is not working and what led me to find this issue.

Is this the first time you install Norton 360?

If not, has the VPN feature worked correctly in the past?

Do you have any other VPN's installed on the device? If so, try uninstalling those and testing 360 again.

The messages about not being able to open regions, and ad blocker are normal until you have a solid VPN connection established.
