I am a Norton 360 subscriber on Android (using a Samsung Galaxy A23). I would like to report a display/UI overlay issue with the Google Play Store.
Whenever a sponsored ad rotates on the Play Store homepage, Norton triggers a real-time scan. The scan banner (yellow, then green) appears and overlaps directly on top of the bottom navigation bar of the Play Store, completely hiding the menu tabs (“Games”, “Apps”, etc.).
Since ads rotate continuously, the scan triggers in a loop and the banner keeps popping back up constantly, making navigation very difficult. There is no error message, it is purely a visual/UI overlay problem.
Please find attached the screenshot showing the issue. Could you please escalate this to the Android development team for a fix?
That looks like the overlay for the Google Play App Advisor Scan feature. If you do not want that, tap on the Account icon at the bottom right of the 360 screen and tap on Security. Then Turn off Google Play Scan.
When I open the Google Play Store, the sponsored ads on the homepage automatically rotate on their own. Every time the ad changes, Norton immediately triggers a new real-time scan. I don’t need to touch or scroll the screen; it happens continuously on its own because of the rotating ads.
If I swipe the Norton scan banner away, it just pops right back up the moment the next ad rotates.
I have already tried restarting my phone, but the issue persists.
Could you please pass this information along to the development team so they can look into how Norton interacts with the Play Store’s rotating banner?
I prefer to keep Google Play Scan enabled as I want full protection on my device. Since I am paying for the subscription, I shouldn’t have to turn off a security feature to fix a UI display bug.
It is up to Norton’s development team to fix this overlay issue on the Play Store.
By the way, here is a screenshot of how the Norton forum buttons appear on my mobile browser. The icons are completely empty, so I have to guess which button does what. You might want to pass this bug to your web team as well!
I re-tested after restarting my device. On my Android device, the Games > For you carousel auto-advances normally, but Norton does not display repeated scan banners while browsing the Play Store. I can browse, switch tabs, and tap around without any Norton scan notifications. The Norton scan banner appears only after I select an app for potential installation, which appears to be the expected Play Store Scan behavior. When I swipe the Norton scan banner away – the banner does not reappear.
On my device, under Google Play Store > Games > For You, the featured game carousel auto-advances through four games. Norton 360 remains silent while the carousel rotates. The Norton Play Store Scan banner appears only after I select an app for potential installation.
Since I’m not experiencing the behavior you describe, and I haven’t been able to reproduce it on my Android device, it may be best to report the issue directly to Norton Support. They can collect diagnostic logs and determine whether it’s a device-specific issue or something the Android development team needs to investigate.
May be best – for you – to document/report “issue” directly via Norton support.

I tested on my Samsung A15 on Android 16. What I see along the top of the Play Store App’s default interface is a rotating set of suggestions from the Play Store. Not really ads. On my display most were just a suggestion of features, and they had an Explore button. But every once in a while you would see an Install button on a suggestion. Those with the install button would trigger the App Scan. The others did not. But the app scan banner would disappear when the next suggestion would appear.
I then tapped on an app and the scan would come up as expected. But as @bjm noted above, I could swipe left to remove the app scan banner.

I just tried swiping the banner away (to the right on my screen) and it works! Even if it pops back up with the next ad, it leaves enough time to tap the navigation menu at the bottom of the Play Store.
