According to Christopher MacDonald Chairman of ANN, the site suffered a breach August 7th, 2017. As they are trying to ameliorate the situation, the site has been moved to animenewsnetwork.cc. DO NOT visit the original, animenewsnetwork.com until they have this situation fully under control. I love how in the article he starts off with, "As you know --" No, i didn't know, and found out when a contributor on FUNimation's forum posted about the site being down. He also explains that, "this will probably not be the last time the site is hacked..." I say, if they went the "extra mile" for their supporters and secured the site with a business-grade solution (possibly Endpoint) from Symantec, the "hacks" would be virtually eliminated, or, (if there happens to be a situation) the impact of which would be greatly reduced thanks to Norton protection.
Might i suggest a re-categorization of safety rating for animenewsnetwork.com over on Safe Web, at least for now: https://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=animenewsnetwork.com
Sincerely,
H.B.
