For a subscribed user, getting the subscription alert is rather annoying... and worrying at times...
When I bring my laptop to work on a place without wifi or internet access, it is rather unfortunate for me should NIS:
- decide to check my subscription
- detect no internet connection
- deactivate my product
(this is what I guess of how subscription verification works)
I work with multimedia, so plugging in other people's USB drive or external HD is the norm for me. When NIS deactivates itself, what can I do but to hope the devices I plug into my laptop are clean? I have MBAM installed, but it doesn't cover everything and takes time to scan. This is crucial as I need to work as soon as windows finishes its startups.
When I have internet connection, I still get the deactivation/subscription alert randomly. I understand this might be due to a temporary connection problem to Symantec's server, but getting a deactivation upon starting up is a problem I faced since NIS2010 (links below).

Can NIS be programed to recheck for subscription after the first attempt failed, say a 15min delay if there's a internet connection, and a 1 day delay if there's no internet connection detected? Make it so that it won't decide to deactivate itself after just 1 attempt.
