Norton internet security and system works basic

What your looking for is called an anonymiser.  There are quite a few commercial tools for this available on the internet.

I'm not aware of anything in the Symanatec stable that would fit your needs.

Try Anonymizer .  There are others - use a google search.  The basic idea is that your IPkeeps getting cycled through various secure web servers.

Oh - yes, this product is worth it.  Others (free FF add-ons) - hell no.  You get what you pay for ultimately.  I picked this one because the US government regards it so highly that they ar happy to give away free licences to citizens of certain countries.

I'm not keen to give you any further info than this because I don't know you or what you might really want this for - sorry.

I post on several message boards/forums, mostly political stuff. As with any venture into the web, I’m somewhat concerned about security, tracing of ip addresses. Does norton offer a product that hides your ip from either other posters or a forum’s administration? There are many sites that claim to hide your ip, do they work and are they worth it?

Forcefield from ZoneAlarm is also a good one

There are many techniques to get your IP address without your notice.  For example, if the site requires Java applet (not JavaScript), there's no way to stop it phoning home your IP address AFAIK.  Using an anonymous proxy will be effective for those simple server-side scripting techniques, however, I don't think Java applets can be stopped.

The best way to keep secret of your IP address is to use public (wi-fi) networking services, like those in coffee shops or libraries.  Make sure the connection provides certain encryptions (like WPA) or you use SSL to connect to web sites (https:// ...).

Hi,

I think this issue has been resolved.  Not really much to it.

Cheers
